Yes! WiFi 7 routers are backwards compatible. This means even if your devices aren’t WiFi 7 yet, they’ll still connect to the network. But to experience the full potential of WiFi 7 (think blazing-fast speeds and rock-solid connections), upgrading your devices is recommended.

Absolutely! Upgrading to a WiFi 7 router future-proofs your network and ensures smooth connectivity when you eventually get WiFi 7 devices. Plus, you’ll still experience some benefits like improved network stability with your current devices.

Great news! If you’ve been a loyal Time subscriber for 20 months or more, you can get the new WiFi 7 devices for FREE when you upgrade your Internet plan to 1Gbps.

Alternatively, you can purchase a WiFi 7 router through our Self Care shop starting from RM19/month (excluding installation).

In essence, FTTR and mesh WiFi both tackle coverage issues in areas with weak connections. But they do differ in terms of setup, performance, cost and flexibility.

Mesh WiFi FTTR
Setup Wireless coverage: Mesh device(s) are placed around your home to create a wireless network that extends WiFi signals across a wider area. Direct wired connection: Transparent fibre optic cables are pulled into and installed directly in each room. This delivers a consistently strong and ultra-fast Internet experience, no matter the distance.
Performance The more mesh devices you install, the wider the WiFi coverage. However, the signal may weaken the farther it gets from the router. The wired connection brings the power of fibre directly to each room, delivering blazing speeds, rock-solid stability and minimal signal drop for a flawless Internet experience, wherever you are at home e.g. on a 1Gbps plan, expect 1Gbps speeds in rooms equipped with FTTR.
Cost WiFi 7 mesh affordably priced at:

  • RM399 per unit; or
  • RM19/month per unit on a 24-month payment plan.
 FTTR packages starting from:

  • RM1,320; or
  • RM55/month on a 24-month payment plan.

A mesh-enabled router means the device is equipped with mesh capabilities. A traditional mesh WiFi setup typically requires a mesh node to be placed next to the router to act as a gateway. Since our routers are mesh-ready, we eliminate the need for an extra device. All you have to do is place mesh nodes where your WiFi signals are weaker and you’re ready to enjoy strong and seamless WiFi all over your home.

We recommend up to 3 mesh nodes for a complete whole home WiFi set up.
